Let me know what you think about this video. I’ve been kicking around the idea of creating a series of such videos. Honestly, I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about it and my enthusiasm for doing the work involved waxes and wanes. Finally, it occurred to me to just post one of the videos and see what people think. So, send me an email or post a comment.

Excellent video in both quality and content. I see two directions for these videos: (1) To continue to provide information to support the advantages of a healthy life style, and (2) provide information on the latest research on the details of a healthy life style (for example, the growing research that seems to support the idea that dietary supplements may in fact be harmful, what is the best way to prepare various types of vegetables (cooked vs. raw), which vegetables have the most nutrients (is lettuce really worth the effort to eat?), optimum way to balance your daily energy equation (i.e. what is the minimum calorie intake required to meet all your daily nutrient requirements?), discussions on exercise (hints, tips, how much, how long). Your “lessons learned” from years of living a healthy life style would be of great interest to many of your listeners. Since I have already adopted a healthy life style, I would be more interested in hearing about how I might improve or modify my daily routine to get the most benefit for my time. I hope you decide to continue this effort.
Hi Monte,
I of course like your message and follow that kind of advice. One suggestion might be to cut in video of you talking to the camera with the slides.
This has possibility but I think it’s going to have a steep learning curve. I think you need to be clear about who the intended audience is. Right now it looks like this would be best for workplaces and the like who are promoting Fitness Rocks as part of their Wellness programs.
You are talking too slowly in the video, probably trying to time it with the slides. But remember how fast paced everything is nowadays. You could probably flash the numbers up and down and just talk normally. Though the graphics quality is good, the presentation as a whole still looks a bit 90’s PowerPoint–that’s the part that is going to be an issue, I think. Do you want to devote the time to learning video such that you can make this look much better?
I really really enjoy your podcast and appreciate the review and explanation of various studies that come out. Thank you so much!
It’s so nice to listen to both your latest podcast, and view the videos on the fitnessrocks.org site. I enjoyed your video about running, and the exercise videos with Heather. I would agree with Misty about the pace of this latest video, and with Peter about cutting to you while you’re addressing the audience. I personally appreciate seeing the person who’s speaking…I suppose because I feel a stronger connection. Thanks so much for all your efforts and contribution to those of us who want to stay motivated, and learn more about health and fitness.
Monte,
Your messages, as always, are some of the most important out there when it comes to fitness and health. I think the others’ ideas are good, and I would definitely agree with Mr. Cook above that you talking into the camera at intervals would be helpful.
Thanks,
Jeff
I liked the message but it seemed a little too slow. I’d say, turn it over to a teenager and see what they can do with it. At a minimum, you need to speak faster and switch the slides quicker. I’m thinking some animation or action footage would help keep the eyes busy as you were speaking.
I just listened to the podcast where you mentioned you were thinking about making this a subscription site. If that’s the case, you might really have to jazz it up.
On the positive side, the images that you selected were pretty powerful and matched the message well.
