Another Attempt at Making Videos

So, I keep trying to make fitness videos.

I really don’t know why I’m so intrigued by the idea of making videos, but I am.  The ultimate goal is to connect with people and deliver the message of healthy lifestyles.

Leave me your comments on this video.  My thought is to make a second Fitness Rocks podcast that is video (a “vodcast”).  I will continue making the audio podcasts.

Monte, I love your podcast, and it’s cool to see what you look like after hearing your voice for many months. You’re very cute!

I like the idea of videos, but I personally think they’re best used in situations where the visuals add to the content being presented, for example, an exercise demo or cooking demo. I feel that in the current video, the visuals are rather unnecessary and the content could have just as effectively been presented in an audio format.

One of the great things about audio podcasts is the ability to listen to them while doing other things (exercising, cooking, driving to work), and a video format just isn’t the same.

This is all just my personal opinion, of course. Thank you for your site and all the great information.

  • I take your podcasts with me when I run – so vodcast is inappropriate. But I’ve seen some sites that have a video with a MP3 option. People can still listen to it while they run : )

It’s nice to see a more “light” side of you, Dr Monte. I think the vodcast’s visuals are beautiful and the content is interesting but I would choose podcasts over a vodcast anyday. Like the other comments, it’s more easy to find time to listen to a podcast.

    Dr. Monte

I thought the quality of the video was great. The voice audio was clean and the accompanying sound track was enjoyable. The video ran smoothly on my computer. (My internet speed is 768 kbps). The opening with the FitnessRocks.org moving across the screen is a nice effect. I also liked the video effect you used to showcase your Gym-Bo character. You did a smooth job of videoing the footage on the bike path.

The content of your new vodcast, like your podcast, is what’s important. I enjoy the fact that you communicate factual, documented information that helps us the audience, better understand the subject.

Having worth while nutritional, fitness and health topics coupled with quality supporting guest makes your presentations great.

I look forward to seeing more of your vodcast in the future.

As always your message is on target. People learn in different ways – some hear, some see, others need hands on experience. The vodcast is another way for people, including myself, to learn and relearn, that we can reduce our risks of many of the chronic diseases that effect so many people. I think the vodcast was creative, based on science and research (like your podcasts), and delivered the message. Like most things, the more you do, the better you will get. I’m looking forward to the next one.
