Everlast Weighted Vest

Pretty simple in design and name, the Everlast Weighted vest comes in multiple weights with many features. Features of this vest include:

  • Adjustable straps
  • 10 or 20-pound option
  • Light weight
  • Great for running or walking

One size fits most with this piece, which can be a disadvantage, but the adjustable straps allow you to cater to your size, without having to purchase a new one. Speaking of buying a new one, the Everlast weighted vest has a 10 or 20-pound option, so you don’t have to look elsewhere for optimal weight training accessories. With textured panels underneath the vest, you won’t have to worry about the weight sliding it off of your body, as it limits the amount of movement during exercise. For the price, this is a weighted vest you should by – especially from a trusted brand.

ZFOsports Adjustable Weight Vest

ZFOsports ADJUSTABLE WEIGHTED VEST

A gem hidden away in the world of Amazon, the ZFOsports vest is one I’d highly recommend because its features include:

  • 50lbs included (also the limit)
  • Total weight can be adjusted
  • Increase or decrease the weight in 2.5lb increments

The adjustment of weight and the weight included are two huge benefits to buying this vest. The only issue with this is that it is a full torso weighted vest, which may not be ideal for some who have shorter torsos. If so, you probably aren’t looking for this style anyway, but it’s quite mobile and doesn’t interfere with mobility. The vest is really meant for exercises that will not require any fast agility type movements. It’s a bit bulk and would be great for exercise like lunges, squats, box hops or stair climbing to add resistance to the workout. The bulletproof styled vest is inexpensive and one I’d recommend.

When you have this on you will feel like you are wearing a bullet proof vest and you are ready to join the swat team!

Tone Fitness Weighted Vest

Tone Fitness

With a maximum of 12lbs, this weighted vest isn’t the largest or most bulky, which may be a disadvantage to some. However, this vest does provide a full range of mobility while challenging you. Features include:

  • Pocket for MP3 or phone
  • Neoprene material
  • Constructed of soft neoprene
  • Reflective tape on the vest

While adding strength to your workout, you can also listen to your favorite music or place your cell phone safely in the pocket. The breathable neoprene fabric allows you maximum mobility while the actual design does, too. It is a weight vest that you can do exercises in like running or walking safely. It also has refletive strips on it, which again is great for runners doing early morning or night workouts when it’s dark out.

You will not feel like you cannot move your upper body around. There is no size limit here so it is a one size fits all but some customers who were a bit larger up top did say it was fitting tight on them.

Overall, this is one I’d highly recommend for those just jumping into the weighted vest game and are looking for something reliable and comfortable.

MIR Plate Weight Vest

MIR SHORTWORKOUT VEST

The MIR Plate Weight Vest in short style is a great and secure vest that holds up to 60lbs. Other features include:

  • Velcro belt strap
  • 3 pound weight increments
  • Keeps your lower torso free

With nylon flaps to completely cover weight plates and some secure straps, you won’t have to worry about this vest sliding around. The only disadvantage is that it is a short one, not a full one, but if you’re searching for this style, it’s one I’d recommend highly because of its security and ability to hold up to 60 lbs, rather than JUST 40 lbs.

This is definitely for people are seriously about doing resistance training, cross fit, training to increase your sprint times, high school football etc… What I like about this vest is that it is very compact. When you look at it, you think the guy in the picture is wearing shoulder pads. This gives you a bit more freedom to add big weight but also do quick agility type of movements. For me this is definitely one that athletes should consider.

SKLZ Weighted Vest

SKLZ Weighted Vest

One of my favorite designs for weighted vests, the SKLZ takes the traditional weighted idea and combines it with modern design for comfortability. Features include:

  • Soft edges
  • Nylon and mesh design

The soft padded edges allow optimal comfort, no matter the 10lb weight included. As for the nylon and mesh design, this allows a factor of breathability for optimal comfort while working out. The design alone is worth the purchase, but the price is attractive, too. The only qualm one may find with this is that it is a very short vest, aimed at improving the upper body. Not too much of an issue, though, as it does its job well.

BOX Super Short

The BOX Super Short Weight Vest is not only aesthetically minimally, but it helps with the function and mobility of the weight you’re bearing. Features of this vest include:

  • Nylon Cordura
  • Easy to clean

The nylon fabric makes it easy to breathe, as well as easy to clean with small areas and an un-intricate fabric. For those not in the market for a super short vest, you won’t be searching for this. However, if you are, you’ve come to the right place. Most worth the purchase based on the variety you can choose from alone; the BOX weighted vest is a great investment.

HyperWear Weighted Vest

Hyperwear Vest PRO

The HyperWear is a thin profile vest that allows a full range of motion.

  • Anti-limiting mobility
  • Unisex
  • Fits really snug
  • No bouncing
  • Max 10 pounds of weight

One of the only ones that’s made for the contours of a man and a woman, the HyperWear is a thin, full-length weighted vest that provides a full range of motion. For those looking for something bulky that can handle more weight, this may be a no-go for you. However, for those in the market for a minimal weight vest that provides optimal mobility, the HyperWear is for you.

CAP Barbell Adjustable Weighted Vest

CAP Barbell Adjustable Weighted Vest, 40 lb

Are you looking for a vest that’s a little larger and covers more surface area on your torso? If so, the CAP Barbell adjustable weighted vest is for you. Features of this vest include:

  • Ability to choose sizes 40lb to 150lb
  • Weights are included

It can be hard to find a quality vest that allows you to work with this much weight. The CAP Barbell is the rare exception, of course, catering to those who no longer need anything under 40lbs and are ready to step up their game. As with any vest, you should always consider your height to weight ratio when choosing a weighted vest. The CAP Barbell is a longer vest, so if you’re shorter, this may be a disadvantage to you. Regardless, as a short person, I would highly recommend this because it works very well and perfect for the price.

HumanX Weight Vest

HumanX 20-Pound Vest

A little longer than the first, but shorter than the previous, the HumanX weight vest is perfect for both short and tall people alike. Those who are just starting out will enjoy the features and benefit greatly.

  • Flex weight design
  • Adjustable in various increment weights (.5 lb, 1lb, 2lb.)

Depending on your active lifestyle, you may want to opt for adding weight slowly or rather quickly, but at a pace that doesn’t hurt you. Depending on the vest you choose, you can add weight in increments as small as half of a pound, or as much as two pounds per addition. The flex weight design of the HumanX allows you to completely move and mobilize your torso, regardless of the weight surrounding. The only disadvantage may be the lack of anything over 2lbs for increments. One of my favorites, this is one I would recommend to anyone starting out or those who are a tad more seasoned.

V-FORCE Vest

If you have workouts you attend to at the gym, or want to buy in bulk for your members during your workout regimen, the V-Force weight vest is perfect for you. Features of the V-Force include:

  • Short and tall design in one
  • Back support

The all-inclusive design incorporates features for tall and short people alike, not being too short or too long for any torso. The addition of weight in the back for full back support allows you to work out safely in this 45lbs. vest.

The only disadvantage to using this vest is that it’s strictly 45lbs. You cannot add or remove any weight, but it’s great for those who need something heavy for a long time. Perfect for P90x styled workouts, this is one I’d highly recommend for optimal mobility.

Cross101 Adjustable Camouflage Weighted Vest without Shoulder Pads, 20 lb

Every crossfit athlete reaches a point when they just want more. If you’ve reached this point, the Cross 101 weighted vest may be the perfect option for you to increase resistance in your workout. With this piece of equipment, you can add up to 40 lbs of weight for your cross training, strength training, or other workout needs.

Details

  • Includes 10 removable 4 lb iron ore weights
  • Weights are adjustable by 4 lb increments by addition or removal of individual weights
  • The vest is designed as a single piece with an adjustable belt attached for easy set up and wear
  • 13 inches in width; 15 inches in length; one-size-fits-all
  • Includes a manufacturer warranty

Pros

With its easily adjustable design, this vest is perfect for most heights, weights, and athletic abilities. It has received great reviews from a wide span of athletes ranging from 5’4″ to 6’4″ and from 115 lbs up to 300 lbs. On top of it’s versatility, the vest is very affordable, especially for it’s high quality.

Cons

Unfortunately, the vest has been somewhat problematic when running. The placement of the weights has a tendency of causing the vest to bounce and sometimes rub.

Overall, the quality of the Cross 101 weighted vest has been a hit with athletes, especially in weight training. From professional athletes to soldiers on leave, the reviews for this high quality, inexpensive vest speak of a well-made, low-cost option — something rare and valuable in athletics today.

Weighted Vest Styles

From what I saw there are roughly 3 different styles out there to choose from, fixed weight vest, adjustable weighted vest and a weighted shirt system. The fixed version is just that, you buy the weight you want and that is what it stays at the whole time. So make sure you buy the weight you really want to workout with. The next kind was a vest that allowed you to change the weight so you can increase or decrease the weight as needed. The shirt systems was new to me. It looks like something that would be wore in a futuristic movie! You literally wear a shirt with the weight in it .

So, in order to pick the best weighted vest for you, consider what you really want to use it for. If you want a little weight to use with running then look at the Tone Fitness. If you looking for some heavy weight to do leg exercises for consider the Cross 101.  If you are a crossfitter then look at the Hyperwear vest.  For anyone else looking to do dynamic resistance training then consider the vests that will let you do your exercises with the freedom you need.
