Editor’s note: this page originally covered 9 weighted vests. 5 of them are discontinued, so it now covers the 4 you can still buy.
Doing a workout at home is only so challenging after so long. Purchasing the best weighted vest on the market can vastly improve your exercise regimen, causing your body to work harder. I was recently looking at purchasing a weighted vest to add to my arsenal of home gym equipment to do lunges and squats at home. In doing so I wanted to write up my research on the vests that I actually found to be worth looking at.
From what I saw there are roughly 3 different styles out there to choose from: fixed weight vest, adjustable weighted vest and a weighted shirt system. The fixed version is just that, you buy the weight you want and that is what it stays at the whole time. So make sure you buy the weight you really want to workout with. The next kind was a vest that allowed you to change the weight so you can increase or decrease the weight as needed. The shirt systems was new to me. It looks like something that would be worn in a futuristic movie! You literally wear a shirt with the weight in it.

Tone Fitness Weighted Vest

One of the most recommended products to give a boost to your training program is the Tone Fitness Weighted Vest. The tone fitness weighted vest is lightweight, and its contours have been designed to fit snugly on your body without causing any discomfort. It’s actually great for walking, running and light weight exercises which has made it a best seller on Amazon.
It’s made of soft neoprene materials to keep you comfortable, comes in a size that fits most people, and the strips are reflective, which is beneficial for night runners. It comes in 8 lb or 12 lb, and the weight is fixed, so buy the one you want to use.

Hyperwear Hyper Vest PRO

One of the only ones that’s made for the contours of a man and a woman, the HyperWear is a thin, full-length weighted vest that provides a full range of motion. For those looking for something bulky that can handle more weight, this may be a no-go for you. However, for those in the market for a minimal weight vest that provides optimal mobility, the HyperWear is for you.
It comes with 10 lb of steel weights and expands to more with Hyperwear’s booster packs, sold separately. It has side lacing for a comfortable fit, and the weight pockets get worn with time.

CAP Barbell Adjustable Weighted Vest

Are you looking for a vest that’s a little larger and covers more surface area on your torso? If so, the CAP Barbell adjustable weighted vest is for you. It’s sold in versions from 20 lb up to 150 lb.
It can be hard to find a quality vest that allows you to work with this much weight. The CAP Barbell is the rare exception. As with any vest, you should always consider your height to weight ratio when choosing a weighted vest. The CAP Barbell is a longer vest, so if you’re shorter, this may be a disadvantage to you.

Cross101 Adjustable Weighted Vest

Every crossfit athlete reaches a point when they just want more. If you’ve reached this point, the Cross 101 weighted vest may be the perfect option for you to increase resistance in your workout. It’s sold in 20 lb and 40 lb versions, and the weights are adjustable by 4 lb increments by adding or removing individual weights. The vest is designed as a single piece with an adjustable belt attached for easy set up and wear.
On top of its versatility, the vest is very affordable. The current version is sold without shoulder pads — those are a separate add-on now. Unfortunately, the vest has been somewhat problematic when running. The placement of the weights has a tendency of causing the vest to bounce and sometimes rub.
