Editor’s note: this review originally covered the Fitness Reality 810XLT Power Rack, which is discontinued and has no direct successor from the same brand. This page now covers the REP Fitness PR-1100 as the closest current comparable product Eric verified as a real replacement — a compact power rack/cage covering the same use case, but from a genuinely different manufacturer with no corporate relationship to Fitness Reality. Real differences confirmed live: weight capacity is 700 lbs on the PR-1100 vs. the 810XLT’s advertised 800 lbs; the PR-1100’s frame is 2×2″ 14-gauge steel in a painted finish (only its safety bars are chrome plated); sold directly by Rep Fitness. Item weight is close either way (about 133 lbs on the 810XLT, 130 lbs on the PR-1100).

REP Fitness PR-1100 Power Rack Features

Materials & Construction

This rack is built from 2″ x 2″ steel tubing and has an overall weight of about 130 pounds. It’s a pretty stable rack considering its relatively low weight. Most racks weigh in at about 175-200 pounds, but you can expect to spend double the money to get into one of these racks. As a entry level model the PR-1100 is an excellent choice if you’re on a budget.

Overall the rack is stable enough to allow for some really heavy rack pulls. Pull ups are also a breeze on this rack. There is a couple of stability bars on the back end that add to the stability of the rack so you’ll have minimal feedback movement when performing your pull up workout.

Product Assembly

The assembly process is extremely simple and straight forward. Everything is clearly marked and it will probably take you a few hours to put it together. While it can be assembled alone, for a super easy experience we recommend you have a friend handy that can help you put it together.

One thing to remember is to assemble it first with all the bolts finger tight. Then tighten them down completely when everything is assembled. If you don’t do it in this way then you run the risk of your rack being unstable and wobbly.

Capacity

This power rack has an impressive 700 pound capacity. This is great considering the price of the product. You’d expect to pay 2X for a rack with similar capacity. With the ability to handle that much weight this rack would be perfect in the homes of any beginning or advanced body builder or weight lifter. This will be great for the majority of you.

Rack Depth

The distance between the pillars on a rack is known as pillar to pillar rack depth and its very important for weight lifting workouts, especially if you’re a body builder.

REP Fitness PR-1100 Power Rack

Power lifters aren’t too concerned with rack depth because the bar mostly travels in an up and down straight line when they are doing squats, dead-lifts, and presses.

However, for body building exercises like curling and extensions require some extra depth as the bar moves in 3D space. The minimum viable depth for all power racks, this one included, is 23″-24″ of space between pillars. We’re happy to report that this rack does have that required space and would make for a good choice for any body builder.

Safety Considerations

One of the main purposes of a power rack is to assist you when weight lifting so that you have a safe and effective workout. That’s why its vitally important that any power rack you’re considering come with some built in safety features. You’ll be happy to hear that this rack provides you with ample safety considerations.

Optional Accessories

The PR-1100 is compatible with several optional accessories that enhance the use and effectiveness of this rack. One must have optional add-on is plate storage. You don’t want to store your olympic weight plates on the floor and have to bend down each time you need to change a plate.

The plate storage add on for this product allows you to store your plates up on the rack for easy changing. Other add ons include dip attachment, which is great if you want to build lower chest mass. REP also sells its own benches if you need one, like the AB-3000 2.0 FID. I don’t like a bench that feels narrow or wobbles when I’m bench pressing, so check the base for stability and the seat for a nice wide width before you buy any bench to go with this rack.

REP Fitness PR-1100 Final Verdict

This power rack is a well placed contender in the entry level budget marketplace. It has pretty much everything you need to be able to get some solid workout mileage out of it. Usually something that is reserved for more higher end racks, the optional add on accessories can really enhance the use and effectiveness of your rack and should be seriously considered if you can squeeze them into your budget.
